One-day excursion to the medieval Bulgarian capital Veliko Tarnovo, picturesque amphitheatrally situated on the meanders of Yantra river. The town was in its peak during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, 1187-1393, when it was a spiritual, cultural and political center of Bulgaria.
Tsarevets Hill with the ruins of the royal palace and the restored Patriarchal Church is a great place to feel the charm of the city. The walk continues through the preserved houses of the 18th and 19th centuries and the old commercial street, in whose shops and handicrafts works are made and sold traditional Bulgarian souvenirs. Two monasteries from 16-17 century are visited.
